File Converter
Your files never leave your device
Conversion runs inside your browser using WebAssembly. Nothing is uploaded; the only downloads are this page and the conversion engine. You can confirm it in your browser's network tab.

Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The converter runs in your browser using WebAssembly builds of FFmpeg and ImageMagick, plus the browser's own image encoders. Your files are read and written on your device. The only network traffic is the page itself and, the first time you need it, the conversion engine (about 14 MB for HEIC/TIFF/PSD, about 31 MB for audio and video). You can check this in your browser's developer tools under Network.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no limit set by Convertz, but everything has to fit in your browser's memory. Images of any normal size are fine. Video and audio files over about 2 GB exceed what the WebAssembly engine can address, and phones with little memory may fail on smaller files.
Why is video conversion slow?
The in-browser FFmpeg engine runs on a single CPU core without hardware acceleration, so it is several times slower than desktop software. Short clips convert quickly; long or 4K videos can take many minutes.
Is metadata such as GPS location kept?
No. Converted images don't carry over camera metadata (EXIF and XMP, including GPS location). Colour profiles are kept so colours look right. Audio conversions keep title, artist and album tags but not cover art.
