WebP to PNG Converter
Your files never leave your device
Conversion runs inside your browser using WebAssembly. Nothing is uploaded; the only downloads are this page and the conversion engine. You can confirm it in your browser's network tab.
Why convert WebP to PNG?
To open a web image in software that doesn’t read WebP while keeping its transparency.
What changes in the PNG
- Transparency is kept.
- A lossless WebP converts to an identical PNG; a lossy WebP keeps its existing artefacts.
- The PNG is usually several times larger.
- Animated WebP files are reduced to their first frame.
How Convertz converts it
Your browser decodes the WebP and saves the pixels as a lossless PNG.
Everything happens on your device; the file is never uploaded.
Common pitfalls
- For photos you only want to view or print, JPG gives a much smaller file.

What is WebP?
A web image format with both lossy and lossless modes, transparency and animation. Google’s own tests found lossy WebP 25–34% smaller than JPEG at the same measured quality and lossless WebP about 26% smaller than PNG. Many sites now serve images as WebP, so “Save image as” often gives you a .webp file.
What is PNG?
A lossless format created in 1996 as a patent-free replacement for GIF. Pixels are stored exactly, with full alpha transparency, which makes it the right choice for screenshots, logos, diagrams and anything with text. Photos saved as PNG are large.
